The presentation will cover the law of product liability in the United States with particular emphasis on the elements of manufacturers’ liability, trial by jury, consumer class actions and multi-state proceed-ings involving products claimed to have injured thousands of consumers.      American products liability law has generated a great deal of interest throughout the world and most recently in China, where exports of various products have given rise to safety issues and product liabil-ity concerns in markets such as the United States. This timely presentation will explore the availability of cross-border remedies for defective products, and how manufacturers must now attend to quality control of their products on a global basis. The speaker, who is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, has had extensive experience in U.S. Product Liability litigation involving automobiles, pharmaceuticals, food, guns, paint, tobacco, and other consumer products, and is currently representing Mattel Corporation in product recalls and litigation involving toys made in China.
