Beijing Office Legal Assistant Recruitment

       Davis Polk & Wardwell is an international law firm with more than 600 lawyers and 75 corporate legal assistants in New York , Menlo Park , Washington , D.C., London , Madrid , Paris , Frankfurt, Tokyo , Hong Kong and Beijing .  Davis Polk has long been recognized as an innovative leader in the provision of quality legal services.  Davis Polk has also developed extensive experience in major international business transactions, and regularly works with companies based throughout the world.

       Davis Polk is currently seeking a bright energetic person to work in the Beijing office as a corporate legal assistant.  The legal assistant position in our Beijing office handles a broad range of assignments - including assisting lawyers in connection with international securities offerings and other corporate transactions.  Successful legal assistants possess a strong interest in learning and participating in ways beyond their immediate job description.

       Specific responsibilities may include:

?           Drafting correspondence and documentation under lawyer supervision

?           Assisting with document review matters by organizing, summarizing and translating documents (including travel to client locations)

?           Acting as unofficial translator at meetings and by telephone and preparing translations or summaries of documents and correspondence

?           Assisting lawyers and transaction working groups at financial printer meetings

?           Assisting lawyers at transaction pre-closing and closing meetings

?           Handling post-closing matters including preparation of bound closing sets

?           Gathering, organizing and maintaining precedent collections

?           Preparing drafts of client bills and related documentation

?           Assisting with client development activities including the drafting of correspondence to potential clients

?           Assisting with due diligence matters by organizing and reviewing documents.

?           Revising, proofreading and distributing drafts agreements and other transactional documents. Preparing, distributing and collecting signature pages.

 

       The ideal candidate must have a strong academic background, spoken and written fluency in English and Chinese, previous experience in IPO and M&A in a reputable domestic law firm. In addition, the candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, a sharp eye for detail and be highly motivated and conscientious and a solid computer skills background.  The position would be well suited for a B.A. or M.A. graduate interested in developing career in Asia and expecting to go to law school.
